Im in NJ for a limo co....?

...a 24/7/365 co. i am salaried emp. we work every holiday, 6days a week no extra pay can they doit

can they work us like that without paying extra for holidays or giving us paid days off? What does the law say about that? I feel slavery is back in this country.
You need to go to you NJ labor board and check to see if your labor category is overtime except. I suspect it is not. Also many states require even salaried employees be paid holiday pay-again NJ labor board.



A better place to check would be a FEDERAL Dept. of Labor investigator. I have been through one such investigation for a private security company. They were paying all of their folks straight time and working them 60 hours a week even on holidays thinking they were overtime except. WRONG. They were investigated on a compliant by ONE employee and had to pay out THOUSANDS IMMEDIATELY in OT pay (I had to cut the checks as the companys CPA while the DOL investigator watched).



A third option is to hire a labor attorney familiar with NJ labor law and federal law (if you can afford it).
